On January 1, 2010, Goodwill Contract Services, in partnership with Respect of Florida, began a contract with the Florida Department of Transportation (DOT) in Bay County. The contract was to pick up litter on selected State Highways in Bay and Calhoun Counties, and mow the grass around DOT holding ponds. DOT liked the Contract Crew’s work so much that they approved a second contract, adding more highways to the list. This allowed us to hire more workers and an additional supervisor.

On October 1, 2010 Contract Services began a custodial contract with the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. Our employees are responsible for keeping the airport clean 365 days a year, have regular contact with airport staff and passengers.

We also have a contract for grounds keeping at Maclay Gardens State Park in Tallahassee, and a State Highways mowing contract for Bay County DOT.

Respect of Florida named Joshua Hull, Contract Services airport employee, the 2011 Rookie of the Year, and the airport’s David Laguna was recognized as an Outstanding Employee. They were selected from Respect employees all over the state. Litter Crew worker Reginald Daniels was given the 2010 Rookie of the Year award; Jazme Wells was awarded Outstanding Employee.

DOT Bay County gave the Litter Crew a 2010 end-of-the-year grade of 100%.

Airport authorities have expressed great satisfaction with the work of the Goodwill Contract Services Custodial Crew; they especially shined during the busy Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.

Goodwill Industries- Big Bend, Inc. is confident that the Contract Services will continue to grow and provide additional employment for people with disabilities to help them attain economic self-sufficiency and personal empowerment.
