Goodwill Industries - Big Bend, Inc.'s main objective is to help people
with disabilities and other barriers to employment find jobs. Career
Training Centers (CTCs) in Tallahassee,
Panama City, Valparaiso and Port Saint Joe ,
Thomasville. Bainbridge and Cairo. provide job counseling, evaluation
and placement through certified case managers. Specific services vary

Computer Training
Goodwill
Industries – Big Bend offers a computer training class at the Mabry Street
facility. Individuals receive self-paced instruction in basic computer
skills, word processing, spreadsheet and the Internet. Job search skills

Leon County Schools Adult
& Community Education
Tallahassee’s Mabry Street CTC offers an Adult Basic Education class
funded by the Leon County Schools. The class is offered five mornings a
week to provide basic reading and math skills as well as training in job
search. Building self-esteem is an important adjunct of this class. For

Ticket to Work
The
Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program is a Social Security
Administration initiative to provide incentives to work for people with
disabilities. Its goal is to increase the choices of social security
beneficiaries with disabilities in obtaining employment and related
services. Participants are provided a “ticket” from the SSA office to
obtain services from an employment network such as Goodwill. As an
employment network, Goodwill is responsible for coordinating or providing
the services.

Goodwill
recognizes the importance of economic development and partnering with
businesses to provide a dynamic workforce to meet the needs of the
changing economy. We provide highly skilled staff to serve the business
community through a variety of free services. These include applicant
screening and recruitment, retention and advancement training, customized
work skills training, tax and hiring incentives, and work site resources
and accommodations.
